Data Engineer

Permanent employee, Full-time · Berlin

About us
“This startup is set to revolutionize classical music” - Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

We are a technology company that is driven by the mission to build the world’s best streaming service for classical music lovers. We're the only service worldwide that is able to offer the specialized search that lovers of this genre want and need. A search that they can’t and won’t get at Spotify, Apple Music or Youtube.

We are honoured to also work directly with the world’s leading musicians and institutions, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic.

IDAGIO is available to music lovers across the globe, but physically we are rooted in Berlin and consider the German-speaking countries our home base, as the world perceives them as the cradle and the center of classical music.
Where you'll contribute

The Business Intelligence team is IDAGIO’s hub of data on business metrics and the user experience. As such, we collaborate with the product and development teams to design product usage tracking; and with backend and infrastructure engineers to develop the clearest, most reliable reporting possible. With our per-second model of compensating artists and licensers, architecting tracking and reporting systems is a burgeoning and, we find, exciting challenge.

AS DATA ENGINEER YOU WILL:

  • Architect, build and maintain data pipelines for both internal and external stakeholders

  • Synthesize complex and diverse datasets (user behaviour, revenue streams, etc.) with logic from music licensing contracts to build reporting systems

  • As part of a small but high-visibility team, take on an influential role in architecting our quickly-growing infrastructure and codebase

  • Be a data advocate within the company: define, streamline, and scale data models to promote a data-driven culture

Experience and personality traits we find relevant for this position
  • 2+ years of experience writing SQL and at least one other programming language (we often use Python)

  • Familiarity with database design principles

  • Experience writing clients for APIs

  • Facility with deriving technical tasks from abstract business questions

  • An eye for both the big picture and the little details: you are equally comfortable architecting systems like a database or a pipeline, or debugging issues on the scale of individual data points

  • An understanding of what makes the structure of classical music unique as compared to other genres is a big plus

  • Clarity, openness, and enthusiasm in communication with colleagues across domains

What we have to offer
  • Join an exceptional multinational team of 70 and shape the future of classical music

  • Enjoy a positive and purpose-driven working atmosphere in our office in Berlin Kreuzberg

  • Contribute directly to the success of our game-changing product

  • Enjoy flexible working hours, occasional remote work and using the tools and hardware of your choice

  • IDAGIO is well funded by renowned investors such as Tengelmann Ventures, Macquarie Capital and b-to-v

  • A competitive salary and a yearly education budget

  • Sharpen your piano skills on our Steinway Model D, and yes, there is good coffee too

  • We can support you with your Visa process and can answer your questions around relocation. Berlin is a beautiful city with lots to offer.
